Spring Recreational Soccer Times and Places

 What night will my child be practicing? 

U4/U5- Tuesday nights
U6/U7- Wednesday nights
U8/U9- Thursday nights
U10- Monday nights
 
*Practice times are set by the coach on the day that their age team is scheduled to practice(see above for days) and will be at Kingston Park, fields 2 and 3. These days can be altered by the coach in conjunction with the parents of the kids on the team.
 
*All games will be played Saturday or Sunday after 12pm.
**Practice night subject to change to work around softball and baseball.
 
Where will games and practices played?
Most events will be held at Kingston Park, but other fields are used. Highlands, Westdraw and Hamlet may be used depending on the age group.
 
What is the schedule of events?
 
May 19th : Kickoff Festival
May 21 - June 1st : Practice Weeks
May 26th - 28th : NO GAMES MEMORIAL WEEKEND
June 2nd - 3rd : Games 1 and 2
June 9th - 10th : Games 3 and 4
June 14th - 18th : Strawberry Fest
June 23rd - 24th : Game 5 and 6
June 30th- 31th Game 7 and 8
July 7: Closing Jamboree/ Tournament (Games 9 and 10)
 
What is the kickoff festival and closing jamboree?
The Kickoff festival is a day where players will get to meet coaches, scrimmage, and get to spend time with their friends playing soccer.  The closing jamboree is the tournament. All teams will play 2 games guaranteed with a winner being announced at the end of the day. There will be contests and prizes for different activities as it will be geared towards all families in the program.
 
Will there be family day/ picture day?
No, not for the Spring session. The Summer session will have these two events.
 
How many games will be played in a season?
Each team will play 10 games during the season including the tournament games.
 
 

Game Info

What does my child need to bring to soccer?

  • Wear appropriate soccer attire
    • Cleats, shin guards, shorts, socks
    • Full uniform to be worn on game days
  • Bring a fully inflated soccer ball
    • U4/5/6 size 3 ball
    • U7 to U11 size 4 ball
    • U12 size 4 ball
  • Plenty of water/ sport drinks to cover entire soccer time

What fields will my child be playing on?

  • Most at Kingston, if needed, other nearby fields will be used (highlands and west draw)
  • What does a typical game look like for my player?
  • U4/5/6: 4v4 without goalies
    • 4 x 6 minute quarters (1 minute water breaks between quarters)
    • Split teams= teams will be divided to have 2 adjacent games playing at one time
    • Coaches WILL BE ON THE FIELDS
    • kick ins will be used
    • GAMES MUST END ON TIME!
  • U7/8: 4v4 (4 field players and a goalie )
    • 2 x 18 minute halves
    • one ref
    • kick ins will be used instead of throw ins
  • U9/10: 6v6 (5 field players and a goalie)
    • 2 x 25 minute halves
    • Coaches stay on sideline- 1 center referee
  • U11: 8v8 (7 field players and a goalie)
    • 2 x 30 minute halves
    • Coaches stay on sideline- 2 referees
  • U12: 8v8 (7 field players and a goalie)
    • 2 x 30 minute halves
    • Coaches stay on sideline- 2 referees

We use small sided games to allow more touches on the ball by the players.  More touches equals more fun!
